Call For Board Members

It’s Election Season for SENCo! We have some open positions, and need people who are passionate about their neighborhood to apply!

There are a plethora of events and activities that we host or participate in throughout the year, including litter cleanups, planting parties, mural painting, homeless outreach, walking tours, resource fairs, community advocacy … and much more!

There is also room for YOUR ideas! Each board member has brought a new focus, new skills, and a personal love for a part of the South End they want to support!

Requirement for Board Participation:

Attend all SENCo Monthly meetings (10/year)

Attend SENCo Monthly All-board meetings (optional for board members who do not hold executive positions)

Participate in one SENCo subcommittee (Lots to choose from)

Participate in one outside group as a SENCo Liaison (Our board members are active in their local Safe Streets, Hosmer Business Association, Disability Councils, Climate Alliance, Picture Pac Ave, and others!)

Board members are also encouraged and welcomed to participate in other SENCo activities as their time permits – like walking tours, community service days, and the Annual Block Party!

And, as always, if being a Board Member is more time than you have, and you want to be involved, neighbors are ALWAYS welcome to jump into planning an activity or as a member of a subcommittee!

Join! Meet your neighbors! Listen to the stories, and be inspired by other folx who Love the South End!

Public Notice – Bylaw Amendment Proposal

The South End Neighborhood Council (SENCo) will consider a temporary bylaw amendment at its upcoming general meeting to adjust the 2025 board election timeline.

Proposed Amendment:

“To amend Article VI, Section 6.5 (B) of the bylaws to provide that board elections for 2025 shall occur in January 2026, after which the regular November schedule will resume.”

Purpose:

To allow additional time for public outreach and to ensure that more neighbors have the opportunity to learn about board service, submit nominations/applications and participate in the election process.

This amendment helps us make the election process more accessible, transparent, and inclusive by allowing more time for community outreach and candidate recruitment
