The South End Fred Meyer is closing—and the impacts on food access, jobs, and our community will be real. Let’s talk about it, plan for the future, and make sure our neighborhood is heard.

Join us for a Community Town Hall where you’ll hear directly from advocates, elected officials, and community leaders. We’ll share next steps, resources, and ways to get involved. You’ll also have a chance to ask questions—anything we can’t answer during the meeting will be sent to the right people so you get answers.

Washington is upon us…

We love our weather and we definitely could use the rain, but it does mean that we will be rescheduling tomorrow’s painting party to the following Saturday, August 23rd, 11-2pm.

Thank you to our excellent Partners at the Tacoma Public Library and to our Artist Jesse Peterson we are able to pivot smoothly and enjoy the rain! See you on the 23rd!

SENCo is enjoying a summer recess this August, and we hope you are too! Our next neighborhood walk will be on Saturday, September 13 at 9am, when we’ll meet at the IDEA School (6701 Park Avenue) and head out into the Park Avenue neighborhood.

Fern Hill Library Painting Party

Come join Jesse Peterson and the South End Neighborhood Council for an all-ages painting party! We will be painting a book-themed mural on the wall around our Fern Hill Library! Please wear grubby clothes and bring a refillable water bottle. All paint and supplies provided. Restrooms and seating available in the library during the event. Water and snacks provided. 7/12 South End Neighborhood Walk #10 at 9am: 72ND St (Pac Ave-Sheridan)

Howdy folks, happy summertime in the PNW! We’re looking forward to heading back to the 72nd Street neighborhood this month. These monthly neighborhood walks around the South End are a great way to start the weekend. All are welcome to join us! 😊

Saturday, July 12th at 9am meet up in the NW corner of Fred Meyer’s parking lot (7250 Pacific Avenue) where the walk will begin and end.

Your South End Neighborhood Council guides short monthly walks around South End hot spots where we focus on identifying potential solutions and ideas for neighborhood improvements as we pick up litter along the way.

All ages welcome! Join upcoming Walking Tour #10 in the 72nd Street neighborhood. Bring your ideas, questions, & comments to help us advocate for ways to make the South End even better.
