CITY COUNCIL AT LARGE POSITION 8
I was born, raised and have lived my life in Tacoma. I’m 56 years old. I’m an environmental scientist. I spent 31 years doing environmental cleanup and habitat restoration around the City for the Environmental Services Department, starting as the entry level lab assistant and retiring in January as the Assistant Director of the 500+ employee, $200 million a year operation. I was the project engineer on the Thea Foss Waterway superfund cleanup.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Magna Cum Laude with Departmental Distinction in Chemistry 1986 from the University of Washington; Master of Business Administration with Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society 2008 from the University of Washington Tacoma. I received my Professional Engineers License in 2002.
For decades the highlight of my week was playing soccer in a pick-up game I organize every Sunday. I love the opportunity to meet new people and the diverse backgrounds of those who are attracted to the game. While I still run that game, the highlight of my week now is watching my granddaughter on Wednesdays. She is a doll.
